6LACK – No More Lonely Nights

By: Stephen Baksis

This past Thursday, June 27th 2024, the Roxian Theatre in Pittsburgh vibrated with the soulful beats and introspective lyrics of 6Lack on his “No More Lonely Nights Tour”. With Pittsburgh being the last show, this short legged tour consisting of 7 shows felt like an add on to his most recent tour which he had just finished. The evening unfolded into a captivating journey through the artist’s repertoire, blending R&B, hip-hop and poignant storytelling.

There were no openers for the show. Only 6Lack’s personal DJ got the crowd ready for him. DJ Tonee got the fans jumping early and even passed out a shot of whiskey to a lady in the front row against the pitt while encouraging everyone to have good time. His set lasted about 45 minutes until 6Lack took the stage. 6Lack’s performance was simple but yet quite powerful. All night it seemed as if the audience was spellbound by his raw vocals. His ability to perform with a quiet intensity drew everyone into his world of introspection and vulnerability.

The setlist was a perfect balance of his hits and songs from his most recent album showcasing his evolution as an artist. His newer album from March of 2023 added a fresh flair to the performance as this was the first time many fans were hearing these songs live. Of course the classics like “PRBLMS” and “Switch’ were heavy requested and the crowd erupted when these songs came on. Towards the end of his set he even gave the fans a little treat and played guitar for a little bit!

The Stage production was minimalist yet very efficient, focusing the attention squarely on 6Lack. Not many lights were on his drummer or bassist although they let their self be known while flawlessly accompanying him through the night. The low light design complemented the mood of each song helping to create an emotional depth to the music. The press photographers were asked to wear black or dark clothing for this show to not take away from the created atmosphere.

In conclusion, the show was amazing and I highly recommend catching 6Lack live if you ever get the chance to in the future. With this being 6Lack’s last show on the “No More Lonely Nights Tour” fans are left wondering what exactly is next for the artist. In the mean time we can an enjoy a brand new single by the artist “F**k The Rap Game” which just released on 6/21/24.
