THE BAND CAMINO – TAKING SHAPE TOUR

On July 22nd, 2024, Stage AE in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was ablaze with energy as The Band Camino arrived in town supported by Knox. It was a busy night for the city with a Pittsburgh Pirates game right down the block at PNC Park. The parking lots were jam packed and I had just made it in time for the show.

As I walked in the venue, Knox was just taking the stage. For those of you who don’t know who Knox is, let me acquaint you a little. I feel like I watched Knox blow up over night, even though his ascension took grit and hard work. Knox is from Ohio, and kind of looks like the younger brother of Ed Sheeran. He was one of the artists trying to make a name for himself during Covid 19. Knox took to social media and unloaded content after content. This is actually how I found out about him. I will say that I am very impressed with how he approached it and he definitely has a good team behind him. I came across some content for his song called ‘Sneakers’ and instantly connected with his music. Knox put out two albums in 2023 and I absolutely loved them both. So naturally, when I found out he was going on tour with The Band Camino I knew I couldn’t miss this show.

Knox brought the energy for sure with his two best friends on guitar and drums, providing an electrifying set. He covered most of his discography with hit songs like ‘Sneakers’, ‘I don’t wanna know’, ‘Dumpster Fire’, and my personal favorite, ‘Not the 1975’. Knox took a break during his set to introduce himself to the fans that might not know him and told everyone a pretty cool story. He mentioned how he messaged Noah Kahan before Noah got big and would send him some songs to listen to. Well fast forward a little bit of time, Knox said after he signed his record deal, he had reached out to Noah again. Only this time to get left on read. It was a funny story that eventually led Knox into playing a cover of Noah Kahan’s hit song ‘Stick Season’. Knox and his bandmates definitely set the bar high for the night and the crowd absolutely loved them. I recommend checking out Knox if you haven’t already and he’s fresh off a new song called ‘Treadmill’.

After a brief intermission no introduction was needed as The Band Camino stepped into the spotlight. The fans in Stage AE went crazy with screams of excitement. I want to start off by saying I absolutely loved the stage design for their set which was super simple but efficient, and the light production was pretty awesome. The trio of musicians captured the audiences attention right out the gate and did not let off the gas, serving their infectious melodies. Throughout their set, The Band Camino showcased their versatility, seamlessly switching from high-energy anthems like ‘1 Last Cigarette’ to more intimate ballads. Each song was delivered with passion and precision, demonstrating the band’s growth since their early days. The bands chemistry on stage was infectious, creating a palpable energy that reverberated throughout the venue. You could tell they’ve been doing this for quite some time. All night the crowd sang along enthusiastically, turning the concert into a communal experience of shared emotions and memories. Fans when nuts when they heard songs like ‘Hush Hush’ and ‘Farsighted’ from their album titled ‘Try Hard’ which was released in 2019. They also played my personal favorite ‘Novocaine’ and I absolutely loved every single second of it. As the evening drew to a close, The Band Camino played their last song of the night ‘Daphne Blue’. The audience’s cheers echoed long after the band left the stage, a testament to the unforgettable experience they had curated.

In summary, The Band Camino and Knox’s performances at Stage AE were amazing and I would highly recommend catching this tour if they are coming to town near you. There just about halfway through the tour and the next stop is tomorrow at Royal Oak Michigan. Unfortunately Knox has to back out of the last three stops on tour but he will be replaced by Very Gently. Also, I just wanted to add a little fun fact. The Band Camino just recently released a three song EP on my birthday May 17th!! So if you’re itching for more Camino after reading this article go listen to it, you won’t regret it.
